Great White Egrets
These birds were abundant on the Rio Negro in the Pantanal in Paraquay. I liked the simplicity of the palm trees setting off the white birds.
This painting was a commission which required adult birds with young. I found it interesting to portray the birds in the swaying reeds.
Snipe in the evening light
This was a scene at the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss with both the dead reeds and the bird reflected in the water.
Great Spotted Cuckoo
This rarity, which I had never seen before in Britain, warranted this quite sketchy portrait in oils compiled from a number of pencil sketches.
A charm of Goldfinches in a teasel patch by a gate at Lakenheath RSPB reserve. No two birds were ever in the same position or place for a second, but it was a lovely sight.
A view of Salthouse church from the new footpath on Pope’s marsh near Walsey Hills.
